  • SBILab's PhD candidate Shiv Gahlot has been undergoing an intership at Arizona State University (ASU) from February 5, 2021.
  • SBILab collaborated with IEEE Signal Processing Society Delhi Chapter and 10 other IEEE SPS Chapters throughout India for the 5-day event IEEE SPS Artificial Intelligence for Visual Applications (AIVA) 2021. With more than 400 registrations of 5+ countries, the five-day extravaganza featured about 10 technical sessions and tutorials, a poster presentation competition as well as an SPS Chapter Chairs Meet hosted by Dr. Anubha Gupta and her team.   • Congratulations to Ekansh Sareen and Lakshya Singh for receiving the Dean's Innovation, Research, and Development (DIRD) award in the impact category of research for their work "Functional Brain Connectivity Analysis in Intellectual Developmental Disorder during Music Perception". The DIRD award recognizes an individual or team that has developed and/or implemented an innovation in engineering, research, socially relevant, or industry project. The project was supervised by Prof. Anubha Gupta and was in collaboration with AIIMS and Tamana NGO.

  • A research paper titled "EDNFC-NET: Convolutional Neural Network with Nested Feature Concatenation for Nuclei-Instance Segmentation", authored by Shiv Gehlot (Ph.D Scholar, SBILab, IIIT-Delhi), Anubha Gupta ( Faculty, SBILab, IIIT-Delhi), and Ritu Gupta (Laboratory Oncology Unit, Dr. B.R.A.IRCH, AIIMS, New Delhi)) has been accepted in the IEEE Signal Processing Society's flagship conference, IEEE ICASSP 2020 to be held in May, 2020 in Barcelona, Spain.
  • Two research articles from SBILab were presented at IEEE 12th International Conference on COMmunication Systems & NETworkS (COMSNETS-NETHEALTH 2020).
    (a) The article titled, "Understanding Function Brain Activation using Source Localization of EEG Signals in Motor Imagery Tasks", authored by Mansi Saxena (Young Scientist, IIITD), Ekansh Sareen (Research Assistant, IIITD) and Anubha Gupta (Faculty, IIITD) focused on identifying activated brain areas corresponding to movement imagery tasks. This paper also won the best paper award.
    (b) Another article presented in this conference titled, "Predicting Human Response in Feature Binding Experiment Using EEG Data", authored by Syesha Girdher (Associate Software Engineer Qualcomm India Pvt. Ltd.), Anubha Gupta (Faculty, IIITD), Snehlata Jaswal (Faculty,Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut) and Vinayak Naik (Faculty, BITS Pilani Goa) focused on utilizing EEG signals to predict human responses.

  • The article titled, "RNASeq profiling of deregulated miRs in CLL and their impact on clinical outcome" authored by Gurvinder Kaur (Senior Scientist, AIIMS), Vivek Ruhela (Ph.D. Student, IIITD), Lata Rani (Scientist, AIIMS), Anubha Gupta (Faculty, IIITD), Krishnamachari Sriram (Faculty, IIITD), Ajay Gogia (Faculty, AIIMS), Atul Sharma (Ph.D. Student, AIIMS), Lalit Kumar (Faculty, AIIMS) and Ritu Gupta (Faculty, AIIMS) is published in a very high impact factor journal- Blood Cancer Journal, Nature (Impact Factor: 7.895).
    In this article, IIITD team developed an in-house bioinformatics pipeline, MiRPipe, to analyze the genomics data for efficient identification of differentially expressed RNAs. AIIMS team clinically validated the association of differentially expressed miRNAs, obtained from MiRPipe, with potential prognostic indicators of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), a type of blood cancer. This research can help identify molecular biomarkers for improved prognosis and exploration of therapeutic targets for CLL in the future.

  • Prof. Dimitri Van De Ville, Professor of Bioengineering Institute of Bioengineering, EPFL & Professor, Dept. of Radiology & Medical, Informatics, University of Geneva, Switzerland delivered a talk on the Topic “Graph Signal Processing for Human Neuroimaging: Signals & Graphs Meet Activity & Anatomy" on 16th December 2019 at IIIT-Delhi.
  • Prof. Matti Latva-aho, Director for 6G Flagship, University of Oulu, Finland, delivered a talk on the topic "Key drivers and research challenges for 6G" on 12th December 2019 at IIIT-Delhi. In his talk, he emphasized that as 5G research is maturing towards a global standard, the research community must focus on the development of beyond-5G solutions and 2030 era, i.e. 6G.
  • Prof. Gaurav Sharma, professor in the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Biostatistics and Computational Biology, and a Distinguished Researcher in Center of Excellence in Data Science (CoE) at the Goergen Institute for Data Science at the University of Rochester, delivered a talk on the topic "Set Theoretic Feasibility and Optimality Frameworks for Data Hiding and Privacy" on 10th December 2019 @ IIIT-Delhi.
  • Ekansh Sareen of graduating B.Tech batch of 2019 @IIITD has been awarded gold medal for best B.Tech project (research track) for his work titled “Studying functional brain network from dry electrode EEG set during music and resting state in neurodevelopmental disorders” with Dr. Anubha Gupta.

  • We are pleased to announce that the selected papers of our ISBI-2019 challenge, ‘C-NMC: Classification of Normal vs Malignant Cells in B-ALL White Blood Cancer Microscopic Images,’ will be published in the Springer Proceedings titled, ‘ISBI 2019 C-NMC challenge: Classification in Cancer Cell Imaging.’ This proceeding is exclusively for the papers accepted through our ISBI-2019 challenge. It provides the participants a dedicated platform to showcase their contributions towards solving a challenging medical problem.
